“1-Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
The Winter Olympics is taken place and s many countries and athletes’ competing. So many people have put in so much effort for a few minutes of glory. For some it will be the culmination of a career, everything put into doing the very best they can in hopes of the ultimate reward of a gold medal. And if they fall short of expectations, they will devastate. For the winners, the small gold medal and the certificate with a small amount of cash money is the ultimate victory and later they hope to do shoe commercials, swimsuit or other TV ads commercial to make the real money.
But what’s the real ultimate reward? It’s not a medal or a ribbon or prize money. It’s not fame and glory on this earth. The ultimate prize is with God. Athletes train hard every day. We must put in the same kind of effort every day so that we can exercise our soul and strive for first place, to be among those closest to God. It is hard for sure as the enemy within us Lucifer himself and his army competing with us and trying to destroy us daily, every second.
The best part about God’s system is that everyone has an opportunity to win. Unlike the Olympics where there can only be one winner, with God, every person who submits to God’s will and worships God alone can cross the finish line victorious. So, as we watch and enjoy the Olympic coverage, or cheer for our favorite athletes from our favorite countries, let us always keep in mind the real prize, the real gold medal, the ultimate reward is Paradise.
2- Timothy 2:5 “Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.”
1 Corinthians 9: 24-27 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
